  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 100 g shredded cheese, such as cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend Choose based on taste preference.
  • 120 ml whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 60 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter or neutral oil For sautéing onions.
  • Diced pickles, as desired Optional topping.
  • Diced bell peppers, as desired Optional topping.
  • Cooked bacon pieces, as desired Optional topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add butter or oil. Sauté diced onion for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  • Add ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat, until fully browned. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
  • Stir in minced garlic, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and flour until the mixture becomes smooth and lump-free.

Assembly

  • Lightly grease a pie dish or small baking dish.
  • Evenly spread the cooked beef filling across the base.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef, and add any optional diced pickles, bell peppers, or cooked bacon if desired.
  • Carefully pour batter over the top, evenly covering the filling.

Baking

  • Place in a preheated oven at 190°C. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is set, lightly puffed, and golden brown around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes to ensure clean slices.

Serving

  • Slice into wedges and serve warm, optionally with a fresh salad or additional toppings.

Notes

Ensure you drain the excess fat from the cooked ground beef to keep the pie from being greasy. Experiment with different spices or cheeses like pepper jack for some heat. For added crunch, consider adding crushed crackers on top before pouring the batter.
