Ingredients
  

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 500 g 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces)
  • Salt and pepper

Coating

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup flour Note 1

Cooking Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 tbsp 3 1/2 tbsp (50g) unsalted butter or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or white or other clear vinegar
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp soy sauce (light or all-purpose) Note 2
  • 1/3 cup 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 steaks in total. Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Place the flour in a shallow dish. Coat the chicken in flour and shake off any excess.

Cooking

  • Melt most of the butter in a large skillet over high heat, saving about 1 teaspoon for later.
  • Place the coated chicken in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden. Flip the chicken and cook the other side for 1 minute.
  • Reduce the heat slightly to medium-high.
  • Make some space in the pan and add the minced garlic along with the remaining butter. Stir the garlic briefly until the butter melts.
  • Add the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir or shake the pan to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it simmer for 1 minute or until it thickens slightly.
  • Turn the chicken in the sauce to coat. If the sauce gets too thick, add a little water and stir.
  • Remove from heat immediately. Serve the chicken on plates and drizzle with the remaining sauce.

Notes

Serve Honey Garlic Chicken Breast warm over rice, noodles, or alongside steamed vegetables. To store leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat over medium heat or in the microwave, adding a splash of water if the sauce thickens.
