Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger meat Ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped) Chop finely for even cooking
  • 1 can tomato soup Use standard size can
  • 1 can water Use the empty tomato soup can to measure
  • 1 package taco seasoning Adjust seasoning to taste
  • 1 package tortilla chips Use your favorite brand
  • 2 cups grated Mexican cheese Feel free to mix different types of cheeses

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Once the beef is cooked, add the tomato soup, taco seasoning, and one can of water to the skillet. Stir everything well to combine.
  • In a baking dish (9 x 13 inches), break up the tortilla chips into small pieces and layer them on the bottom.
  • Spoon half of the hamburger mixture over the tortilla chips, then sprinkle one cup of grated cheese on top.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining tortilla chips, hamburger mixture, and end with the remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once out of the oven, add your favorite toppings.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding jalapeƱos to the meat mixture or using different types of cheese. You can also include black beans or corn for more texture. To store, let cool completely, cover, and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
