  • ½ cup salted butter (softened to room temperature, 1 stick) Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • ½ cup brown sugar (both light and dark brown sugar work)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour All-purpose flour is recommended, but gluten-free flour blend can be used.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the softened salted butter and brown sugar together with a large spoon until it becomes creamy and soft.
  • Add the flour and mix again until you no longer see any dry pockets of flour.
  • Press the cookie dough into balls that are approximately 2 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spread out at least 2 inches apart from each other.
  • Gently press the tops of the cookies down with the palm of your hand to flatten them a little.
  • Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, until they are golden around the edges.
  • Allow them to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet so they can firm up, then enjoy!

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to three months. For a chewier cookie, chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before baking.
