Ingredients

Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef
  • 6 Tbsp All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/8 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 1.5 Tbsp BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp White Sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, and sugar. Heat until the mixture begins to bubble, whisking often. Remove from heat.
  • In a large bowl, add the ground beef and all but 2 tablespoons of the sauce. Mix the sauce into the meat well.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the meat mixture and mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and cover with foil.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Remove the foil and drain any fat.
  • Cut the meatloaf into eight slices while it’s still in the pan.
  • Pour the remaining sauce mixture over the meatloaf.
  • Cook for another 30 minutes uncovered.

Notes

Serve hot from the oven, sliced thickly. Pairs well with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh garden salad. For added moisture, try mixing in a beaten egg. For a spicier flavor, add chopped jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days or freeze slices wrapped tightly for up to 3 months.
