Burger Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Higher fat content recommended for juicier burgers
  • 4 pieces beef patties Formed from the ground beef
  • as desired teaspoon Salt See blog post for tips

Toppings and Serving

  • 4 slices yellow American cheese Optional, melts nicely
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns Wrap in foil for best results after baking
  • as needed pieces Aluminum foil For wrapping the burgers

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Generously season one side of each burger patty with salt and pepper.
  • Place the burger patties in the baking dish with the seasoned side down.
  • Sprinkle more salt and pepper on top of the burgers or any preferred seasoning.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Check sooner for thinner patties; they're done when there's no visible 'red' juices.
  • If using cheese, place one slice on each burger and bake for an additional minute until melted.
  • For ooey gooey cheese and a toasted bun, wrap assembled burgers in aluminum foil and bake for a few more minutes.

Notes

Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze them wrapped tightly for longer storage. Experiment with different seasonings and cheese types.
