  • 1 each Turkey (about 12-18 lbs., thawed according to package) Ensure the turkey is completely thawed before cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon flour Sprinkled inside the bag to prevent bursting.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Softened before mixing with seasonings.
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning Adds flavor to the turkey.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances the savory taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper For seasoning.

Preparation

  • Ensure the turkey is completely thawed and remove any giblets from the cavity.
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread the butter mixture under the skin of the turkey for added flavor and moisture.

Cooking

  • Place the turkey in a large oven-safe bag, sprinkle flour inside, and close the bag.
  • Cut a few slits in the bag to let steam escape, then place it in a roasting pan.
  • Cook the turkey according to the package directions for its weight.
  • Once done, carefully remove the turkey from the bag and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes before carving.

Notes

For leftover storage, let the turkey cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. Portions can also be frozen.
