  • 1.5 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil For cooking.

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

For Serving

  • 6 pieces Brioche hamburger buns Homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 cup Romaine or shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium Sliced tomato
  • 1 medium Sliced red onion
  • 1 cup Dill pickle chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine beef, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper. Stir well with a wooden spoon or your hands.
  • Gently form the mixture into 6 patties, each about 1-inch thick, roughly the size of your hamburger buns.

Cooking

  • Heat canola oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the patties in batches, adding them to the skillet. Cook until lightly charred or until your desired doneness, about 3-5 minutes per side.
  • In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheese to melt.

Serving

  • Serve immediately in hamburger buns with burger sauce and your choice of toppings.

Notes

If you have leftovers, let them cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze cooked patties for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet or microwave when ready to enjoy again. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: aim for 160°F. Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to retain juices. Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for varied flavors.
