Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for sauce)
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the ground beef, panko bread crumbs, chopped parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and egg. Mix everything together until fully combined.
  • Roll the mixture into 12 large meatballs or 20 small meatballs, whichever size you prefer.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and butter. Once hot, add the meatballs. Cook for about 7-8 minutes, turning continuously until they are browned on each side and cooked through. Transfer them to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, add the 4 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of flour. Whisk together until it turns brown.
  • Slowly add the beef broth and heavy cream, stirring continuously. Then add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Bring this mixture to a simmer until the sauce begins to thicken. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the meatballs back into the skillet, reducing the heat to a simmer for another 1-2 minutes. Serve the meatballs over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the meatballs rest in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking. If you prefer a creamier sauce, increase the heavy cream and reduce the beef broth slightly.
