  • 1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts About 3 breasts
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 0.25 cup prepared mustard
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

  • Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, ketchup, cider vinegar, prepared mustard, liquid smoke, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or on LOW for 5-6 hours.
  • After cooking, shred the chicken using two forks and serve it.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped onions or garlic to the slow cooker. For a spicy kick, include hot sauce in the mixture. Make sure to shred the chicken well to absorb the sauce. You can replace the sauce with teriyaki or salsa for a variety.
