  • 1 unit red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 unit onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to taste Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For cooking.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and bell pepper, sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic, cumin, and paprika; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Make two small wells in the mixture and crack an egg into each well.
  • Cover and cook until the eggs are set to your liking.
  • Meanwhile, toast the bread.
  • Serve the shakshouka mixture over the toast, garnish with cilantro or parsley, and season with salt and pepper.

Notes

For optimal flavor, use fresh ingredients. Adjust spices to taste; consider adding chili flakes for heat. Enhance dish by adding spinach or zucchini. For a quicker version, use pre-made marinara sauce as a base.
