Ingredients

Filling

  • 450 g thinly sliced beef sirloin or shaved steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Breadsticks

  • 450 g pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 180 g shredded mozzarella or provolone-style cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, for brushing
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley, optional For garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef, onion, and bell pepper to the skillet. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Sauté until the beef is just cooked through and the vegetables have softened. Remove the skillet from heat and allow the filling to cool slightly.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 1 cm thick. Cut the dough into 8 to 10 long strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
  • Spoon a small portion of the beef mixture along the center of each dough strip. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly atop the filling. Fold the dough lengthwise over the filling and firmly pinch the edges to seal.
  • Place the filled breadsticks seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.

Baking

  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter and garlic powder. Use a pastry brush to coat the tops of each breadstick with the butter mixture.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden and cooked through.
  • Garnish warm breadsticks with dried parsley if desired. Serve immediately with your preferred dipping sauce or enjoy as is.

Notes

These cheesy breadsticks can be served warm and fresh out of the oven with dipping sauces. They can also be customized with ingredients like mushrooms or different types of cheese.
