Perfect Sautéed Brussel Sprouts with Bacon

  • 6 slices chopped bacon Use smoked bacon for added flavor.
  • 1 pound halved Brussels sprouts Fresh is preferred for better texture.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup Can be substituted with balsamic vinegar.

Cooking

  • In a medium-sized skillet over medium-high heat, cook the 6 slices of chopped bacon until crisp, about 7 minutes.
  • Remove the bacon pieces and set them aside on a paper towel-lined plate, leaving the bacon drippings in the pan.
  • Return to the same skillet and add the 1 pound of halved Brussels sprouts. Cook until tender for 7-10 minutes.
  • Add the cooked bacon pieces back to the pan along with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Cook for 1-2 minutes longer to warm through.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top just before serving. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm them in a skillet over low heat or microwave.
