Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Spoon and level to avoid dense donuts.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted) Use unsalted for better control of salt.
  • 2 large eggs (beaten) Can substitute with applesauce or flaxseed mixture for a vegan option.
  • 3/4 cup whole milk Can use lower-fat milk for a healthier option.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Glaze Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (or vanilla bean paste)
  • 3 tablespoons milk Add more milk for a thinner glaze.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease donut pans with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Use a large ziplock bag with the corner snipped off or a large pastry bag to pipe the batter into the greased donut pans, filling them only ¾ of the way full.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Cool for 5-10 minutes before dipping in the glaze.
  • Sprinkle with desired toppings and cool completely on a cooling rack.

Notes

Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Avoid overmixing the batter.
