Ingredients

For the crust

  • 1.5 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted

For the filling

  • 1 cup chocolate sauce thick and cooled, not thin drinking syrup
  • 3 cups chocolate pudding prepared and cooled; measured after preparation

For the topping

  • 1 cup whipped cream already whipped; measured after whipping
  • 0.5 cups chocolate shavings For garnish
  • 0.5 cups chopped nuts (optional) Pecans or walnuts can be used

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Mix crumbs and melted butter thoroughly, press into a deep 9-inch dish, and bake 10 minutes. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • Spread cooled thick chocolate sauce across the base. Layer 3 cups prepared, cooled pudding over it.
  • Apply 1 cup prepared whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and optional nuts. Cover without flattening the topping.
  • Chill at least 2 hours. Serve 8 cold portions, using a spoon if the filling is soft.

Notes

Pudding and whipped cream amounts are measured after preparation. Use thick cooled chocolate sauce. This is a soft pudding-style dessert; firmness depends on prepared ingredients. Making and cooling pudding or whipping cream adds separate time.
