Ingredients
  

For the smoothie

  • 250 ml hazelnut milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk.
  • 25 g fresh coconut Use unsweetened desiccated coconut if fresh coconut is unavailable.
  • 1 tbsp cocoa Use unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • 10 g liquid rice malt syrup Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tsp maca powder Can be replaced with another superfood powder.
  • 20 ml cold water Use to adjust temperature of the mixture if too warm.
  • 1/2 tsp grated coconut For garnish.

Preparation

  • Heat the hazelnut milk in a pan or the microwave until warm.
  • Add the coconut, cocoa, malt extract, maca powder, cold water, and about a fifth of the hazelnut milk to your smoothie maker or blender. If the liquid is too warm, add an extra splash of cold water.
  • Blend on high for a minute until everything is combined well.

Cooking

  • While it’s blending, heat the rest of the hazelnut milk until it’s hot but not boiling.
  • Pour the blended coconut mixture into your cup, stir in the remaining hazelnut milk, and sprinkle with grated coconut to serve.

Notes

For best results, enjoy your Malty Coconut Hot Smoothie right after making it. If you have leftovers, store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 24 hours and reheat gently before consuming. Optionally, add a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
