Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Hawaiian rolls
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup half & half Can be substituted with dairy-free alternatives.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter More butter may be needed for cooking.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, add 3 large eggs, ½ cup half & half, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.

Cooking

  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add 2 tablespoons unsalted butter to the skillet, starting with 1 tablespoon, and let it melt.
  • Dredge 12 Hawaiian rolls one at a time in the egg mixture, then place them in the butter.
  • Cook for about 1 minute per side, until golden brown. Continue with the remaining roll slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

Serving

  • Dust the French toast with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and maple syrup or coconut buttermilk syrup.

Notes

Make sure to whisk the egg mixture well for an even coating. Don't rush the cooking process; cooking on medium-low heat allows for a golden brown finish without burning. Experiment with different toppings like peanut butter, chocolate syrup, or banana slices for added flavor.
