  • Pico de gallo
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Guacamole

Instructions

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add 1 ½ pounds of lean ground turkey and cook, crumbling it with a spatula, until it is no longer pink.
  • Stir in 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning and stir until well combined.
  • Add ¾ cup of salsa and blend everything together. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Divide the turkey filling evenly into tortillas and top with your desired toppings such as cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro, and guacamole.

Notes

If you want an extra kick, consider adding some diced jalapeños to the turkey mixture while cooking. For a more traditional flavor, use store-bought taco seasoning or make your own with chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Warm your tortillas in a dry skillet for a few seconds on each side to enhance their flavor and pliability. If you have leftovers, allow the turkey filling to cool, then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
