Ingredients
  

For the Base

  • 35-40 pieces saltine crackers Ensure fresh for best texture.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melt over medium-high heat.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Stir until dissolved.

For the Topping

  • 2 cups light green candy melts About 1 12-ounce bag.
  • to taste red heart sprinkles For decoration.
  • to taste green sprinkles of choice For decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 10 x 15-inch baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Arrange 35-40 saltine crackers in even rows on the prepared pan until the bottom is completely covered. Set aside.

Making the Toffee

  • In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of packed brown sugar over medium-high heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to boil.
  • Allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes, or until the temperature reaches 270-290°F (132-143°C).
  • Pour the toffee mixture over the saltine crackers. Use a heat-safe spatula to spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the oven for 5 minutes.

Topping and Serving

  • Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle 2 cups of light green candy melts evenly over the top. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes so the candy melts can soften.
  • Spread the melted candy evenly over the toffee layer. Then, sprinkle red heart sprinkles and green sprinkles of your choice on top.
  • Allow the Grinch Crack to cool completely and harden before breaking it into pieces and serving.

Notes

Grinch Crack can be packaged as gifts. It stays fresh for about one week in an airtight container at room temperature. Refrigerate for extended storage.
