Ingredients

For the turkey patties

  • 1 pound ground turkey thawed and kept cold; around 93% lean is suitable
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Adds flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Enhances taste.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Gives a mild kick.
  • Salt and pepper to taste To season the mixture.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking.
  • 4 Burger buns for serving; optional if serving patties without buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and your choice of toppings To customize the burgers.

Instructions

  • Combine the cold turkey gently with both powdered aromatics, paprika, and seasoning. Avoid heavy kneading.
  • Portion the pound into four patties of roughly equal 1/2-inch thickness.
  • Heat the tablespoon olive oil in a roomy skillet at medium heat. Fry patties about 5–6 minutes on each side; adjust heat to avoid scorching.
  • Insert a thermometer from the side and confirm 165°F in every center. Continue cooking any cooler patty.
  • Transfer to a clean serving plate and build burgers with buns and prepared toppings.

Notes

Make four similarly sized patties and confirm 165°F in each. Cooking oil goes in the skillet; buns and toppings are separate serving choices.
