Main Ingredients

  • 3 medium bananas, ripe peeled and evenly sliced
  • 1 cup sugar You can use brown sugar for a richer flavor.
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Peel and slice three ripe medium bananas. Combine the fruit with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan.
  • Warm over medium heat, stirring carefully until the sugar dissolves and the liquid begins to bubble.
  • Lower to a mild simmer for about 10–15 minutes, checking the pan base. Finish when fruit is soft and the liquid coats a spoon lightly.
  • Remove from heat and allow about 15 minutes cooling. Keep the fruit for a spoonable topping; optional sieving produces less liquid and a smoother finish.
  • Serve small portions or transfer safely to a clean covered container and refrigerate promptly.

Notes

The main version keeps softened banana pieces. Straining is optional and reduces yield. Eight small topping portions are approximate. Cool safely and refrigerate; this is not a shelf-stable canning recipe.
