  • 1 and 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar For the strawberry frosting
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon strawberry jam or preserves

Vanilla Frosting

  • 1 and 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar For the vanilla frosting
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Chocolate Frosting

  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon water

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare the donuts according to your preferred recipe. Set the warm fried donuts aside as you prepare the frosting.

Making the Frostings

  • For the Strawberry Frosting: Puree the strawberries in a food processor. In a medium bowl, whisk together the strawberry puree, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam. Dip the donuts into the strawberry frosting 2 or 3 times, then cover with sprinkles if desired.
  • For the Vanilla Frosting: In another medium bowl, whisk the melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, 2 Tablespoons of milk, and salt. If you want a thinner frosting, add the remaining 1 Tablespoon of milk. Dip the donuts into the vanilla frosting and cover with sprinkles if desired.
  • For the Chocolate Frosting: Place the chocolate chips, butter, corn syrup, and water in a medium bowl. Melt the mixture in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring after each time, until smooth. Dip the donuts into the chocolate frosting and cover with sprinkles if desired.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Bring them back to room temperature before serving for the best taste. Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor, and feel free to mix up the sprinkles to match any holiday or theme.
