Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt

For the royal icing

  • 4 Tbsp Meringue Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 lb Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp Corn Syrup
  • 1 tsp Vanilla (for icing)
  • Americolor Gel Food Colors

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar, vanilla, and softened butter until smooth.
  • Add in the egg and mix well until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add in the flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until combined and smooth.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters into your desired shapes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the cookies for around 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly brown.

Royal Icing Preparation

  • For the royal icing, combine meringue powder and water in a mixer and beat until bubbly.
  • Add corn syrup and vanilla, then mix quickly.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and beat on high until stiff peaks form.
  • Divide icing and color as you wish, then frost the cookies and let them dry between layers for best results.

Notes
