  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the French toast

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Butter or oil, for cooking

Optional toppings

  • fresh berries
  • maple syrup
  • whipped cream

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spread the cheesecake mixture onto 4 slices of bread, then top with the other 4 slices to form sandwiches.
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and salt.

Cooking

  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil.
  • Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
  • Place on the hot skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  • Serve warm with toppings of choice like berries, maple syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat to restore that crispy texture. Variations include adding fruit preserves or chopped fresh fruit into the filling.
