Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 filets 4 (6-ounce) salmon filets
  • ½ cup Homemade BBQ sauce (or store-bought) Use homemade or your favorite store-bought BBQ sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare the grill by heating it to 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit. Scrub the grill grates clean and lightly grease them to prevent sticking.

Grilling

  • Brush 1 tablespoon of the BBQ sauce on each salmon filet.
  • Once the grill is hot, place the filets skin side down on the grill. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  • Flip the salmon, meat side down, and cook for another 2-4 minutes to add grill marks. The internal temperature of the salmon should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit, but it’s best to remove it at 140 degrees Fahrenheit since it will continue cooking while resting.
  • Remove the filets from the grill and place them on a plate. Let them rest for at least 2 minutes to finish cooking.
  • Brush the remaining BBQ sauce on each filet before serving.

Notes

BBQ salmon is best served hot off the grill with sides such as grilled vegetables, corn on the cob, or a fresh salad. Squeeze fresh lemon over the salmon for added brightness. If you have leftovers, let them cool completely before storing them in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 3 months.
