Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed) Use overripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Can be replaced with more granulated sugar.
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs Can substitute with unsweetened applesauce or mashed bananas.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth but slightly chunky.
  • Mix in the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold this dry mixture into the wet banana mixture.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. If you like, sprinkle some nuts or chocolate chips on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cooling before slicing.

Notes

Serve banana bread warm or at room temperature. Spread with butter, peanut butter, or cream cheese. Store wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
