Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cans 21-ounce cans apple fruit filling Canned apple fruit filling can be substituted with fresh apples.
  • 1 box 15.25-ounce yellow cake mix Use sugar-free cake mix for a lighter option.
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped pecans Can be substituted with walnuts, almonds, or omitted.
  • 1 cup cubed salted butter Use unsalted butter if preferred.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Spray a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Spread the two cans of apple fruit filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Sprinkle the cake mixture evenly over the apple pie filling.
  • Place pieces of cubed salted butter on top of the cake mixture.

Baking

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage. For variations, try different fruit fillings or add caramel sauce for added flavor.
