For the Onion Rings
- 2 large onions
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- cooking oil spray as needed, compatible with the air fryer
Method
Cut 2 large onions into 1/4-inch rings and separate them. Mix flour, paprika, salt, and pepper in one bowl; whisk the egg with milk in another and put breadcrumbs in a third.
Coat each ring in flour, shake off excess, dip in the egg mixture, and let excess drip off. Press into breadcrumbs on both sides.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Lightly spray both sides of the breaded rings with cooking oil and arrange one spaced layer in the basket.
Air-fry for about 10–15 minutes per batch, turning gently halfway, until golden and the onion is tender. Repeat with remaining rings; the cook-time estimate allows 3 batches, but basket size may require more or fewer.
Transfer to a rack and serve hot, dividing the full batch into 4 portions.
- Refrigerate promptly at 40°F or below; use within 3 days.
- Reheat cooked leftovers to 165°F.
